Those who follow motor sports and F1 racing have a wonderful opportunity to be a part of something historic. F1 racing will officially enter the second most populous nation in the world - India. October 30 is the race day for the Indian Grand Prix race. The racetrack has come up near the capital of the country and is considered to be one of the best tracks in the world as far as infrastructure and design is concerned.

Of course, what really matters is the quality of driving on the race day. However, the initial developments seem to be very positive. The sport is considered a niche attraction in the country. Cricket is the most popular sport in the country. This has led to a vicious cycle where cricket garners bulk of sponsorship which in turn helps reaffirm the status of the game.
However, there is a popular view that F1 racing may just be the thing to topple cricket off its perch. It has a huge following amongst the youngsters of the country. It has all the elements that appeals to the masses - speed, thrills, technique and lots of glamour.
It may take time but chances of corporate organizations shifting part of the sponsorship fund from cricket to F1 racing is considered to be very high. Of course, the average enthusiast is not bothered about the overall condition of the sport and is more interested in having a good race. Considering the close competition between the top drivers in the circuit and considering the presence of Michael Schumacher, one can only hope for a very grand race on October 30.
Those who love playing racing games on their gaming consoles using the latest R4 memory cards would do well to keep it aside for a while because Oct 30 is going to be the real thing in India.
